Jenever: Geographical protection

Did you know that Jenever has a geographical protection? Since 2008, the European Commission has determined that the name 'jenever' is protected

For centuries, humanity worldwide has been busy capturing flavors in alcohol.

And perfecting the distillation process to do justice to the various raw materials. We see the pride that countries take to 'their' national drink, a drink with origin and provenance. Often arose from the resources and raw materials that were available in that region. A number of spirits have become the ambassadors of their country over the centuries. For us that is gin. A drink to be proud of. Cognac from France, whiskey from Scotland and jenever from the Netherlands.

In 2008, the European Commission determined that the name 'jenever' on the product is a protected designation of origin, designated as PGI (Protected Geographical Indication). Cultural heritage that can be traced so clearly to its origins in the Netherlands and Belgium that it has been given protected origin status. As a small country we can be very proud of that!
